LOVIN ELDERLY EYES WAITING FOR US 💕

 

When I was little, my brother and I waited for every school vacation to go to our grandparents' home. They also waited for us with loving hearts. We went to their house by bus.

Grandfather waited at the bus stop when the bus is near the village. Our grandparents' house is situated in the middle of the village with a big garden. Grandmother waiting for us with a dining table full of many delicious village foods. Grandfather built a swing on the tree in front of the house for us. In those days we spent time with listening to grandfather's  stories, walking the  village, picking and ate saver guavas with cousins, and at the village small waterfall we caught fish and put them in bottles. We spend time in our grandparents' village in freedom and fun with our cousins. 

The day came when we had to go back house, we felt sad and we didn't want to leave. sometimes we tried to hide our bag from our parents, waiting to stay with our grandparents, but we had to leave. When we said goodbye to them, grandfather gave my brother and me some money and they hugged us with tearful eyes.

Now many years past and change many things, we grow up and were young they are grown too old they are still writing for us with full of loving heart. 

COLLECTION OF STAMP LIKE AN ENCYCLOPEDIA.

 

I have a collection of different types of stamps. I started collecting stamps as a hobby when I was little. Reason for that   My father has a lot of stamps that he collected when he was little, so I also want to start a stamp collection like him.

In my stamps collection, l have included Sri Lanka stamps issued on wildlife, Shrines, Culture, special persons, celebrations and Events. I also  have stamps in Issued on special themes like space , animals, sports and  foreign  stamps. In my stamps collection, l have old and rare stamps. I also have new and attractive stamps.

Every stamp is issued for a special reason, so every stamp represents a story. That's what makes collecting stamps so fascinating. My Stamps collection is like an encyclopedia. But I think in a few years, letter postal exchanges and stamps will stop completely. Because some of countries, like Denmark, are already done completely stop posting services.

PUPPET SHOW.

A traditional traveling puppet group, going from town to town, came to my hometown. so we went to see that puppet  show. Before we watched the puppets show we got a chance to see the puppets and handled them. That puppets are made of wood and clothes. We saw puppet characters based on folk tales, jataka tales and characters based on different dance styles. The puppet's body parts were attached with thread, and the thread  attached to wooden sticks for handling the puppet.

After that, we entered the main hall and they created a small stage for the puppet show. That small stage is like doll's stage. After the curtains opened and puppet show started. It felt like the dolls were alive and they presented the play, because the puppet artists handled those puppets with great skills. They handled the puppets and delivered the dialogs from behind the stage. In that puppet show, they first presented a comedy drama based on Andare's story. The audience laughed and cheered that comedy dialogs and puppet acting. Then they presented a Joker dance and a Tamil dance. At the end of the show, they presented a puppet danced while holding fire torches. That item surprised the audience a lot. It was so joyful, we felt like we were living in a cartoon world 

 

ONE OF MY CHILDHOOD FAVORITES FOOD.

When I was little my mother made delicious pancakes for evening tea time. But Those pancakes are different from the common American pancakes that everyone knows. This Sri Lankan coconut pancakes made with special sweet coconut filling. Normal Sri Lankan coconut pancakes / pol pani pancakes are made by adding milk and eggs, but my mother didn't add them, She made them with few ingredients, but so tasty!

First she added flour, salt and a bit of turmeric (for yellow color) to a large bowl and was whisking with adding as much as needed water until it had a thick batter. After that, she made sweet coconut filling form grated coconut, a pinch of salt and kithul treacle. When I was little my grandfather made kithul treacle in house. Therefore my mother used kithul treacle for her cooking. She boiled kithul treacle and added grated coconut and pinch of salt, then mixed until combined. After that, brushed oil onto a roti pan and poured 1/3 cup batter then, spread the batter all over the pan using a spoon. Cooked it on medium heat on 2 minutes and flipped it and cooked 1 minute. As soon as the pancake is cooked take out and wrapped the pancake with sweet coconut filling.

A JOURNEY TO SMELL FRESH TEA

Loolecondera tea garden is first commercial tea plantation of Sri Lanka, Planted by James Taylor in 1867. 🍵 All of tourists were traveling in Loolecondera tea garden by vehicles, but my family and l decided to travel by Walk. 

First, we met James Taylor's statue near the entrance. We walked to the tea garden where road went among tea plants. After we walked a way cold windy come with mist and covered us. The tea state looked amazing among the mist. we went middle area to the tea garden we saw a pond among the tea plants and a small wooden house in the middle of that pond. Walked a way we met small waterfalls that flowed among the tea plants. The waterfall's water is cold like ice.

We reached the top of the tea garden and smelled the fresh smell of new tea powder with the wind Also, we saw the first tea plant grow by James Taylor's hand.

I'm happy again and again to we travelled on foot That trip, we really enjoyed it.                

GREEN DESK, CLEAR MIND.

We all live in a busy day-to-day life. Undergraduates are busy with lectures, assessments and studying.  working at tables nonstop for long hours and spending many hours in front of laptop screens, documents or books. So, our minds are getting tired and stressed. Even though we can't run away from the overload of work, that one small thing can relax and calm our minds. 

That one thing is plants. 🌳 Being around plants can lower stress levels, promote a more relaxed and calm environment while also boosting our moods. 

We can place a pot of plant on the side of our working tables. We can choose a suitable category and size of plant as we like. I think cactus plants are best for working tables, because they're low maintenance and stylish.🌵

I placed 3 small cactus plants on the side of my study table. Just looking at the plants on the desk can relax me and reduce the level of stress.
